Windows 10 is the latest update from the Microsoft stable and the company has been giving out this version for free to all the owners of the previous versions. Though this was given as a free update a number of users opted to not update, as they found the previous version more comfortable. Now, Microsoft claims that 300 million devices run Windows 10. It also hinted that they may soon stop giving the update for free forcing may users to start updating their PCs. The deadline has been set for July 29 this year which is more than two months away and if the consumers don’t upgrade their PCs from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 by that time,Microsoft will be charging a onetime fee of $119 for a copy of Windows 10 Home. Windows 10 that is now on 300 million active devices, according to Microsoft was actually just on 270 million devices in April. Earlier there was also a report that it was on over 200million devices in January. So it is evident that with call from Microsoft a lot of people have started hitting their upgrade buttons. However the goal, according to Microsoft, is to have Windows 10 in over 1 billion actively using devices including phones, tablets, PCs, servers and other embedded products.
