As the New Year resolutions go,
Mark Zukenberg’s resolution to building a robot butler tops the charts.
In a facebook post on New Year’s day the facebook founder stated that he was committed to building a artificially intelligent assistant all by himself. He hopes that the Aritificially Intelligent (AI) assistant would greet his friends, check on his baby, run his home appliances and help him out with work. ‘You can think of it kind of like
JARVIS in Iron Man,’ he wrote, referring to Tony Stark’s AI butler – ‘Just A Rather Very Intelligent System’ – in the Marvel franchise.
The American billionaire added that he would get started on the personal project by using existing technology, before teaching the robot to understand his voice similar to ‘JARVIS in the Iron Man movies’. He also stated that the AI will be taught to recognise human faces, so it can let his friends in when they ring the doorbell. Eventually it seems that Zukerberg hopes to give control of everything in his home to the AI.
The project is one of
Zuckerberg’s personal challenges which he sets himself every New Year. Previous challenges have included learning Mandarin, and committing to reading two books a month.
But what makes this project more exiting is not making the much loved Jarvis AI a reality but that Terminator star, Arnold Schwarzenegger commented on Mark’s post saying he would be happy to lend the AI assistant his voice.
‘Hasta La Vista ‘ baby.
