Toyota has positioned-Road as personal mobility vehicle (PMV). The first look and launch of Toyota’s i-Road electric car took place in Geneva Motor Show. The launch was simply spectacular. Toyota’s i-Road electric car is equipped with two in line seats. The two in line seats of Toyota’s i-Road electric car simply lean in the corners of the car just like a motorcycle. Toyota’s i-Road electric car runs at a top speed of 45 km/ hour i.e. 30 miles per hour with five horsepower. The range of this car is 50 km. Currently, Toyota is operating and functioning its Harmonious Mobility network – better known as Ha:mo in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan. Ha:mo has been spectacularly designed and operated in a way that it improvises urban transportation by bringing public transportation and private car together. For enhancing urbanization, Toyota developed this car as personal mobility vehicle, making people community friendly. By promoting zero emissions mobility concept, the Ha:mo Ride project of Toyota has been designed in a car sharing system manner. The system utilizes ultra compact electric vehicles which would facilitate transportation between two different points like with city center, train stations to work places, etc… Currently Ha:mo possesses ten Toyota PAS power assisted bicycles and ten Toyota COMS personal mobility vehicles. Currently the facility is available from four stations. These vehicles can be rented and easily returned post usage. With expansion in mind, the figure of ten vehicles would shoot up to hundred for each of them. The beginning time of 2014 and months ahead have been expected to see a consistent production of i-Road. Along with this, even the rental stations will see a hike to seventeen. These services will be provided at train stations and public buildings for facilitating quick turnover in rentals. Travelers will be charged with a rental fee of 20 US cents which makes to 20 yen on per minute basis.
